Top 3
Recommendations
to do whilst in
Fiji
Tēnā koutou/ Hello everyone!
After a week in Fiji recently, these are my top 3 recommendations on what to fit in .
1.Seventh Heaven
6am pick up from Coral Coast, with a 4pm departure – 3hour shuttle & 45min boat ride . $180FJD & $45pp at the check in counter for the boat transfer.
Completely cash less and you add to your tab throughout the day, which gets paid before you jump back on the boat back to Nadi.
6hours to lay in the sun/shade with plenty of beds and seats for you to move throughout the day. Can kayak, swim, snorkel around the reef, jump off the second level of the platoon and raid the drinks and food menu which is full of a variety of food! There are a couple options to pick from for this type of experience, but after talking to a few people who were also at Seventh Heaven for the day who had experienced the other ones, we made the best decision.
2. Fiji River Tubing
8.30am pick up from Coral Coast – 1hour
Ben, William & the team were so friendly and accommodating throughout the day, match that with the experience and it was one of the best days we had in Fiji.
Started the trip with a longboat ride up the Navau River where we visited a small village where an extended family of 30-35 people lived. We heard about how life used to be for this village so far up the river and how it has changed over the years. After walking around the village we went back downstream where we went for a very short walk to a waterfall that was nice and fresh! From here we went a little bit further back down the river where we were greeted with some lunch and got to enjoy our surroundings. From here we then jumped into our water tubes/donuts, go in to some groups (where we latched on to each other to make it safer for the rapids as it balances you out so there is less chance of flipping) and we were lucky enough to have William take us both which meant we didn’t have to do much in the way of paddling down the river – bonus! Traveling both up and down the river with all the small waterfalls along the river sides was absolutely beautiful.
3. Relax!
However, this may look for you, I highly encourage you find a way to make sure you fit this in. Read a book, swim in the pool, lay by the pool and/or in the sun. I am one of those people who usually travel and fit in as much as I can or continuously move locations and I struggle to relax, but once I managed to slow down and find a way to relax it was amazing!
Bonus tip! Pack your bag full of snacks and cans of alcohol (the resort staff will refer to this as ‘medicine’ as you aren’t meant to bring this in) but it will save you a lot of money! Just make sure you check with your airline provider what their requirements are regarding having alcohol in your check in tueke (luggage). If you choose to stay in a resort, also check out the kid’s menu in the room service menu as it is 1/3 the price yet still a decent sized meal!
Here rā/Goodbye!
