Trying to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes is really time consuming and can be stressful. As with most, if you book in advance there are more options and prices are relatively more pleasing for a traveler on a backpackers budget.
Hostels are really key for affordability and sometimes meeting some new friends and likeminded people.
I like to look across AirBnb and Booking.com just to make sure I get something that ticks the most boxes. Here are mine, hopefully they help you with your future accomodation bookings.
Are you a budget traveler looking for affordable accommodation that also allows you to meet fellow travelers from around the world? Look no further! Hostels are an excellent option for exploring new destinations without breaking the bank. But with so many choices available, it's crucial to know how to pick the right one for your needs. Here are some essential factors to consider when selecting a hostel:
Location
The first and most crucial detail to consider is the location of the hostel. It's essential to find a hostel that is conveniently situated near public transport, attractions, and amenities. Do some research on the city or area you plan to visit and look for hostels that are centrally located. This will save you time and money on commuting and therefore you don’t need to dread carrying your heavy pack long distances.
Cost
Set a budget for accommodation and browse through different hostels that fall within your range & are within your location preference. Keep in mind that while it's tempting to choose the cheapest option, it pays to check the facilities to make sure it has some comforts, but also the reviews to ensure it is clean and tidy.
Facilities
Everyone has different needs and preferences, so make sure the hostel provides amenities that are important to you. Some of my personal preferences are: curtains on the bunks (allows for some privacy) free Wi-Fi, non-cubical like toilets and showers, laundry facilities and lockers for personal belongings.
Reviews and
Ratings
Before booking your reservation make sure you read recent reviews and check their ratings. Look for hostels that consistently receive positive feedback regarding staff friendliness, cleanliness, safety, and overall atmosphere.
