MILAN/MILANO,
ITALY
Living my best Italian life!
Day 85-86
Kia ora! Hello!
I'm full of controversial opinions on Italy, so here is another one - I'm not really a fan of Milan. There, I said it.
It reminds me of Auckland back home, there's some things to do downtown that are close together but otherwise you have to travel a bit further to see anything else. If I had 4 days to spend here it'd be fine, but as we got in early on day 1 and then leaving the arvo of day 2 we didn't have time to do a day trip anywhere.
If you go to Milan you can do trips to Pisa, Lake Como, Verona, Florence, Bologna - which most of these we saw already.
First day we got in at 7am after a crappy 10hr train ride and couldn't check in until 1pm so we had time to kill. Wondered down to the Galleria & Cathedral, which are beautiful and had a coffee across the road. Wondered the streets some more and then we checked in with a bag of snacks and some facial masks ready for a shower, at home day spa and I climbed into my PJs and had a sleep.
Next morning we discovered this bakery with the most amazing focaccia bread that I will forever dream about! It's so light, fluffy and just outright delightful. I also found a tiktok that said there were flamingoes in a park, to which we went and checked out. Couldn't believe my eyes! It was so random, it was a private park and gated off but how and why were there flamingoes of all animals there....?? I then enjoyed my last authentic spinach and ricotta ravioli before we headed to the station for France.
I also forgot to mention the cutest wee kitty that was at our hotel! A couple times when we would open our door he ran in and got all smoochy and laid on our bed with us for a bit, it was so freaking cute!!
Anywho. My best Italian life has come to an end but I wil
l be back!
Haere rā! Goodbye!
