VENICE/VENEZIA,

ITALY

Going to live my best Italian life!

Day 70-72

Kia ora! Hello!

Venice, the floating city that is predicted to be under water by 2100.

We got in at midnight so straight to sleep with a sleep in and chill morning to follow. After unpacking our bags and taking it easy we intended to do a wee tour and get some late lunch. Thankfully we ended up seeing a fair bit because the next two days were raining which changes the vibe as the only way to get around is walking, and the city is susceptible to flooding.

One morning we left early, we were staying along the canal, and due to the rain and high tide the canal had flooded the street. It is crazy to think this place could disappear but after seeing this in person it makes it clear that that is exactly what will happen.

We had a few days here and intended to make the most of it and achieved the following:

*Afternoon boat trip to Burano - island full of colourful houses

*Day trip to Cortina d'Ampezzo - mountain village up in the Dolomites

*2x half days wondering Venice - St.Marks Square with the Basilica, Campanile, had coffee at Caffè Florian (oldest operating cafe in Europe), Rialto Bridge, Despair Teatro Italia (an old theatre now supermarket) and also stumbled across Chiesa di San Zulian (Catholic church that is absolutely beautiful inside).

I'm here to live my best Italian life and making it my mission to eat as much pasta and pizza as I can, so far the count is:

2x Lasagnas

2x Pizzas

A lot of espresso

Currently on a train to Florence where the weather is meant to be warmer which I am looking forward to a lot! Will update you next when we move o

n to Rome. Ciao!

Haere rā! Goodbye!
