EXPLORING
HISTORIC
MANILA
Day 7
Kia ora! Hello!
Averaging about 30degrees on a daily basis it is really key to keep covered, hydrated and plan aircon breaks!
Our first 3 day weekend here in Manila saw us take the opportunity to head to main Manila and check out the Intramuros. Keen to see the historic architecture and take some cool pictures whilst seeing the “real” Manila was the driver for this day trip. I say “real” because we are living in what is similar to a gated community where it is easily forgotten that this is in fact a third world country.
Tip - GRAB is the main form of transport and compared to NZD, really cheap averaging 400 peso for an hour drive (less than $15). Make sure you download the app asap, and plan accordingly as traffic is crazy so don't expect to be anywhere fast.
We visited:
San Augustin Church
Casa Manila
Anda Park
The Manila Cathedral
Fort Santiago - including The Dungeons & Rizal Shrine
I think we last 4 hours, had a snack and drink then got a GRAB home to shower and cool down before dinner out with work colleagues.
Haere rā! Goodbye!
