EL NIDO, P.1

Day 29-30

Kia ora! Hello!

We are spending a full week here so will stretch this out over a couple posts to prevent this being a novel!

Day 1

Enjoyed a wee sleep in then went out to the outdoor eating area where we ate breakfast and watched all the boats pile up with tourists for their day trips - love people watching!

Went for a little wonder of the village, decided that today we would venture out to Lio Beach for a swim and watch the sunset. Had plenty of time to kill so one of us napped whilst the other looked into the how's and what's for the day ( I was absolutely the napper in this instance!). Once I woke we got ready, checked out a local vegan cafe where we met 2x young Danes on the tail end of their 6months traveling, and then a couple hours later we were sitting in some beach chairs drinking a San Miguel drying off after a dip in the ocean at Lio Beach.

Crazy to think this time next week we will be wrapped up in all our winter gear in Amsterdam. For now, we'll be enjoying beers, beaches and the island life.

Highlights:

El Nido town:

*Taste - vegan cafe with a pretty decent menu, will be checking that out a few more times.

Lio Beach:

*300peso for 10-15min trike there, same amount to get one back.

*Taco truck - even if you're not that hungry, I still recommend trying this Jeepney turned food truck out! We already had dinner so got 2x chicken ones to share and they are perfect mini sized for a snack.

*Sunset here alone is beautiful! Well worth the trip out.

Our train of thought for this leg of the trip was to do an adventure day followed by a slow chill day, then repeat. So with that said, Day 2 we did a tour.

Day 2

Most recommended tours are A & C, so today we did A. 1200 peso + we hired aqua shoes from our accommodation as there was potential to cut our feet on rocks. This tour took us to see a few different islands, swim, snorkel, admire the view and have some lunch. They are full day tours so we arrived at 8.30 and returned by 4-4.30pm. After such a big day we returned back to our accommodation, showered, napped and went out for dinner.

Food recommendation - Big Bad Thai, super yummy and a nice view from upstairs.

Safe to say I was still shattered so home it was to watch a movie and get a good night's rest.

Haere rā! Goodbye!
