A TRIP TO BORACAY

Day 20-23

Kia ora! Hello!

3weeks of living in Manila down, which means 1more week of work to go before we relocate Palawan for a week and then off to Europe!!!

At this point we have been working long days, then non-stop outside of work so when it rained in Boracay and prevented us from wanting to go island hoping, neither of us were all that mad about it. Especially knowing we have Palawan shortly and a high chance of getting sunshine then, we decided to eat, drink & treat ourselves to multiple massages & spa treatments.

I would like to note on the experience of getting there - overwhelming, stressful, more difficult than it needed to be are some good ways to describe it.

Fly to Caticlan - easy

Arrive and need to get to the Jetty for the boat - gahhhh! People offering packages, but just get the transfer.

Boat ticket at the Jetty - now the fun begins (not!). You complete & pay from 3 different spots in the office your immigration registration, terminal fees and boat ticket. Whilst everyone is lovely and directs you, these booths cause you to be heading in all directions and back.

Arrive on Boracay Island - you just walk out and people are offering you a ride, make sure you agree on a price first.

Overall the cost from the airport to our accommodation was $550, then on the way back $360 (less fees to pay).

Now the actual fun stuff!!

For nightlife, highly recommend both OM & Summer Palace! Great spots to eat, drink, sit and vibe out to the bangers without having to go on the limited dance floors, but plenty of room at your table to dance there if you want. OM has outdoor tables where you can also play Jenga (finally something I'm better than my fiancé at!).

For food, I loved the theme and vibe of Cafe Maruja. Plenty of food and drink options, with some fun mermaid and Biscoff options and the overall asthetic for those instagram pictures. Great spot for people watching, right across from the beach, staff were lovely. This spot also opens up as a bar with a DJ later in the afternoons.

For massages, there are so many options that you can go anywhere. We went to a couple different spots and the massages were really good.

Overall, we got a little bit of beach time but not the “hot sweaty kind that makes you need to dive into the water before you melt away” kind which we were actually ok with. Being able to lay on a beach and not freeze is always a great start coming from Wellington.

Here is hoping for some island hoping, snorkeling and hot sweaty beach time next weekend! For now, 4 more days of work till I am well and truely OOO!!

Haere rā! Goodbye!
