QUEENSTOWN
Kia ora! Hello!
April 21st I got married, so 3 days later we flew to Queenstown for a 5 day honeymoon. We could have planned it better and made our big Euro trip our pre-wedding honeymoon, but I’m glad we didn’t because I’ll take any excuse to jump on a plane!
We stayed at the Dairy Private Hotel so we were nice and central without much more than a 5/10min walk to get anywhere. Typically we like to stay in more reasonably priced accomodation, but this was a time to celebrate just the two of us so we splashed out a little throughout this whole trip.
The main highlights were (which is basically everything we did!):
Drive out to Bob’s Cove for a wee walk to the board walk (next time will do the top but we had limited time) and then continued on to Glenorchy.
Finally got to experience the Onsen Pools - such a beautiful view to take in during a soak with a cider, followed by a full body massage
Early morning drive out to Milford Sounds where we did a cruise with a buffet lunch (best idea ever!), but not before we had stopped at all the touristy spots along the way - Mirror Lake, Homer Tunnel, Eglinton Flats and The Chasm which were all very beautiful.
Visited my grandparents in Cromwell before heading to Wanaka for lunch, with a walk to #thatwanakatree, and drove back via pit stops at Cardrona & Arrowtown.
Booked an incredible buffet dinner at the top of the Gondola, after my first time experiencing the luge!
When heading to Queenstown the best piece of advice is to book in advance as much as you can, as it is a touristy go to location and places get booked/crowded fast. All in all, this was an awesome experience of getting a balance of site-seeing some of my top NZ Travel Bucketlist items and some down time with my new wife <3
Haere rā! Goodbye!
