CHRISTCHURCH
Kia ora! Hello!
We booked some returns flights for a 4 day weekend on a really good deal last year, something like $30ech one way that made it hard to resist!
Due to our big trip earlier this year and honeymoon, I wouldn’t blame you for asking how we even have leave left for this We didn't haha. So because of this we were lucky enough to compromise and we work from our Christchurch office on the Friday and take the Monday off.
To keep this trip affordable we booked a private room at a new hostel in central CHCH that had only been open for two weeks - Drifter Christchurch. Great facilities and lovely staff! Not that we got to experience either activities but we did check out their theatre room and their yoga studio and they were both really neat.
Places we ate:
Little High Eatery - multiple times! It is a updated food court like place, but cooler. Great corn & chicken dumplings, and margaritas!
Pink Lady Rooftop - saw this on tiktok, seems a little overhyped but great idea.
C1 Espresso - some of the food menu is delivered via pneumatic tubes.
Riverside Market - like Little High, we ate here multiple times and similar concept. Best loaded hash browns!
Things we saw:
New Brighton Pier
Christchurch Cathedral
Cardboard Cathedral
Cookie Time Factory - popped in on our drive back from Castle Hill
Lots of street art around the city with no graffiti running it, it is beautiful!
Day trips out of the city:
Castle Hill - 1.5hour drive towards Arthurs Pass. About a 40minute loop walk with incredible views of the land.
Akaroa - 1.5hour drive. Great day trip to get coffee, wonder the small town, walk out to the lighthouse and have lunch before driving back.
Plenty of margs were drunk, steps walked, good food eaten and shopping done. To top the trip off we caught up with an old work friend, his wife and meet their beautiful little girl who has the cutest smile! Was a great wee weekend away to scratch the travel itch in the meantime.
Haere rā! Goodbye!
